The girl I walked behind was reading a book! But she had a small computer in her hand. I could not believe what I was seeing. I then decided that when I got home I would research this new fad that seemed to be going on.

The data I found was simply amazing. According to the International Digital Publishing Forum the first quarter of 2009 the industry posted $23.6 Million in revenues. The internet had brought a new industry to the world, electronic books (ebooks). People were not buying hard cover books any more. They are now buying their books online and are downloading them to palm readers and laptops.

The amazing thing is it won’t be long until school text books are a thing of the past for all grades and children will have all of their books and school work in their back pockets, literally. I know that I can purchase some of my college books in digital form now and save money and space.

Reading is still a pass time that most still enjoy. The technology of how we read our books though shows the advancement man has made to this point.
